About The Position

The Community Development Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the regional substance use prevention coalition in Monmouth County. This position is responsible for facilitating community engagement, coordinating prevention initiatives, and supporting the operational needs of the coalition. Working closely with the Regional Coordinator or Director, the Community Development Specialist assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of coalition activities. This includes facilitating task forces, organizing public awareness campaigns, and delivering prevention education programming across the region. The CDS must have and maintain a valid Driver’s license and a legally licensed vehicle with insurance for driving to and from programs and events.

Requirements

  • BA/BS and/or three to five years related experience and/or training
  • Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating task force meetings and supporting coalition workgroups to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Assisting with program logistics, including placing program orders and managing supplies.
  • Providing technical support for virtual and in-person meetings, presentations, and events.
  • Organizing and implementing public awareness campaigns focused on substance use prevention and community wellness.
  • Delivering evidence-based prevention education to schools, youth groups, and community organizations.
  • Conducting community outreach to build partnerships and increase coalition visibility.
  • Attending community meetings and events to represent the coalition and gather insights on local needs.
  • Preparing reports and documentation to track progress, outcomes, and community impact.
