About The Position

The Community Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing communications and program strategies for the Community Development Department. Manage implementation of all Community Department programs and activities. This will include disseminating information and guidance to community partners, staff and program stakeholders, providing staff support during meetings, and working on day-to-day program operations to ensure that the department activities are moving forward. Strategizes fulfillment of Community Development goals. Manages relationships with community partners at local, city, and state level. Builds potential partnerships with economic, environmental, and cultural organizations. Develops and grows a unified Diversity, Equity, and Belonging (DEB) initiative among Genting Properties. Compiles metrics on Community Development activities to produce internal and external reports. Oversees employee engagement efforts: Creates and implements professional development programs, leadership training, and volunteerism programs. Oversees internal communications including employee communications and memos. Works closely with Human Resources to ensure consistent messaging and implementation. Promotes positive employee relations. Continually seeks new ways to improve company-wide communication and transparency. Oversees Community Development staff. Conducts regular team meetings and quarterly reviews to assess productivity. Delegates duties as needed. Actively assists all team members to complete any and all necessary duties. Serves as department liaison in cross-departmental meetings and initiatives. Produces and maintains departmental schedules. Allocates staff to Community Development initiatives and off-property events as needed. Manages departmental fiscal duties: Handles budget tracking, including corporate charitable giving. Coordinates purchasing of Community Development materials and operational supplies. Handles departmental payroll: reviews weekly timesheets and processes PTO requests. Enforces all HR policies and issues disciplinary action as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the applicable statute, rules and regulations.
  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, marketing or similar field with experience in community engagement, marketing and partnership activities
  • A demonstrated understanding of the community development and social planning process
  • Knowledge of New York City and its municipalities, as well as other State communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate effective and sustainable community partnerships
  • Self-motivated and has a demonstrated ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Eagerness to learn with a positive attitude
  • The Community Development Manager will need to be flexible to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and events, as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project management and grant research is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Outreach and present to stakeholders and potential partners
  • Maintain an organized system of tracking, monitoring and prioritizing tasks and projects

  • Establish relationships with public, private and non-profit stakeholders

  • Support the Community Development team on special projects and deliverables
  • Work with the Community Development Team and other departments, as well as members of the community, on development and advocacy projects and initiatives including workshops, community meetings, media releases, and report writing
  • Participate in promoting positive workplace culture through committee membership and organization activities
  • Other duties as required, including administrative support
