About The Position

The Community Corrections Officer 3 (CCO3) - Pre-Sentence Investigations (PSI) Writer position is a full-time, permanent role within the Community Corrections Division located in South Seattle, WA. The primary responsibility of the PSI Writer is to complete Pre-Sentence Investigations for cases being sentenced out of King County Superior Court. Other Community Corrections Officer duties may be assigned as time and situation allow. The position offers flexible shift hours, which may include working 4/10s. This recruitment is internal, open only to current permanent WA State Department of Corrections employees.

Requirements

  • Ability to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm.
  • Possess and maintain an unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
  • Willingness and ability to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti-social behaviors.
  • Two years as a Community Corrections Officer within the Washington State Department of Corrections, or a Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant professional work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education totaling seven years.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PSI Investigations and prepare/submit PSI reports.
  • Supervise individuals who have committed a crime and have been ordered to supervision in the community.
  • Engage with supervised individuals to work towards positive change.
  • Enforce supervision conditions and the law.
  • Lead other Community Corrections Officers.
  • Act as the Unit Duty Officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
