Community Correctional Officers provide supervision, rehabilitation, and support services to offenders under the supervision of the Probation and Parole Division of the Vermont Department of Corrections. They utilize both risk control and risk management services as part of a supervision team of high-risk offender. Work is performed in accordance with correctional policies, directives, and procedures under the supervision of an administrative superior. The applicant must have a strong understanding of ethics and boundaries and: The ability to communicate and be able to work in a team setting Excellent writing/strong computer skills Good time management, and observation/organizational skills Be detail oriented. Have understanding of victim awareness Have knowledge of domestic violence and sexual offenders The ability to communicate effectively to a team the dynamics observed during field contacts The ability to maintain a professional rapport with local law-enforcement agencies and community partners. Prior Corrections, law-enforcement, or military experience preferred.
