About The Position

Help us collect signatures for an important ballot initiative! Petitioners will canvass in busy public areas and engage voters in one-on-one conversations to gather signatures for a ballot initiative. Canvassing is all about connecting with people face-to-face, having meaningful conversations, and inspiring them to take action on important issues. We spend our days outdoors, in public spaces, to engage with community members. This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise. Get paid well! Canvass positions start at $24/hour. Leadership positions start at $26/hour. We offer overtime pay, performance bonuses, paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals. We are hiring now for positions that start in mid-January. All positions run through March with possibilities for advancement afterwards.

Requirements

Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
Open to new opportunities and are interested in building their campaign skills
Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
Can work and problem-solve collaboratively as necessary
Employees must be eligible to work in the US.
Upon hire, everyone will be required to present original, and unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete the I-9 form verification.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working in a public-facing role like canvassing, petitioning, customer service, sales, or the service industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work
