Provides oversight and strategic direction for SHS community health initiatives by managing Samaritan#s community benefit portfolio, including community health needs assessments, social accountability programs, and community benefit reporting. Supports SHS hospitals and executive leaders in maximizing the impact of community health investments to improve health outcomes in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln counties. The SHS Health Education Team provides technical leadership, advice and support for community and patient health education programming. The team responds to regional needs with information, resources, education or programs and supports the changing health needs of our communities with a focus on physical and mental health. The team works with experts in the development of class content and deploys evidence based training programs for personal engagement and self-management.

  • Bachelor#s degree in Public Health or a related field required.
  • Five (5) years experience in population health program management, grant cycle management, strategic partner engagement, and/or a position of similar responsibility and complexity required.
  • Communication # Community Relations - Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas. Ability to communicate to people internal and external to the organization and to represent the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Computer Literacy- Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software. Ability to operate applications, enter data, and manipulate and process information. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and information systems.
  • Conflict Resolution # Problem Solving - Ability to proactively resolve conflicts in a positive and constructive manner. Possess the knowledge and skills to handle complaints, settle disputes, and negotiate with others to reach mutually beneficial decisions. Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Project Coordination- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple fast-moving projects with changing priorities, drivers and dependencies. Ability to work effectively independently or as part of an integrated team to achieve a goal.
  • Social Perceptiveness # Team Building - Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics.# Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.#Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • System Analysis/Evaluation- Knowledge of how a system works and how changes will affect outcomes. Ability to identify measures of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance to meet certain goals.
  • Time Management## Adaptability/Flexibility - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients/participants/community members.
