About The Position

The Community Behavioral Health Liaison plays a crucial role in engaging and coordinating services for individuals involved with the justice system across several counties. This position focuses on providing timely and clinically appropriate support to clients, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and services while fostering positive relationships with local law enforcement and judicial staff.

Requirements

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social work, nursing, psychology, mental health, human services or similar degrees.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• A license in therapeutic discipline or provisionally licensed if eligible.
• Must be able to timely respond to crises in the community, provide CPR and use Crisis Prevention Institute techniques to de-escalate the situation or other behavioral management techniques.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of direct mental health experience in an inpatient, crisis intervention or outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Engage and support clients who frequently interact with law enforcement, jails, and court services.
• Triage/Screen and manage client needs to provide the most clinically appropriate services in a timely manner.
• Connect clients with needed resources and follow-up to ensure that their needs are met.
• Attend agency and community meetings as assigned by supervisor.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with local law enforcement, judicial staff, and jails.
• Document all interactions and contacts with clients according to agency and DMH standards.
• Attend regular department and supervision meetings to stay up to date on agency and program changes.
• Meet all internal and external reporting requirements including data collection for Quality Assurance evaluation and DMH reporting requirements.
• Attend educational seminars and meetings related to professional advancement, including the state CIT conference.
• Promote, organize, and present for local CIT council trainings.
• Participate in crisis on-call duties as needed.
• Other duties as requested by the supervisor/department director.
