About The Position

At National Youth Advocate Program, community-based therapists are central to their mission, working directly in communities to bring hope and healing to youth and families in need. As part of an integral service team, these therapists deliver life-changing Mental and Health services to youth and their families who are referred by various entities such as schools, healthcare providers, Family and Children First councils, and county courts. Under the general supervision of a Clinical Supervisor, the therapist helps youth and families overcome challenges, with the ultimate goal of enabling them to live safely and successfully in their community. At NYAP, the role extends beyond therapy to include guidance and advocacy.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • LSW or LPC required
  • Experience in providing both individual and family therapy
  • Daily travel required with the willingness to meet clients on a flexible schedule or during non-traditional hours if needed
  • Must be comfortable providing services in the community and in client homes.
  • Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
  • You have good computer and technology skills
  • Must be willing to accept other job duties as assigned
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
  • Experience with TF-CBT preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, group, and family mental health therapy, case management, transportation, and other professional services to clients served
  • Travels daily, to provide community based services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor services for the youth and family in the community mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
  • Regularly reviews and modifies youth based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationship with assigned foster parents and families of origin.
  • Assists in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangement consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Provides safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for youth served
