About The Position

The Individual Support Counselor works as part of a team to provide direct supports, guidance, education, advocacy and supervision for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. The Individual Support Counselor helps individuals live safely in the community, maintain their physical and emotional health, foster relationships with family and community to develop the skills necessary to increase the individual’s independence. Interaction between staff and individuals will reflect an appreciation of each individual’s uniqueness with the expectation and goal of mutual learning and growth. The catchment area is Norwood/Walpole Area.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate in and comprehend the English language.
• Ability to work as a member of a team and to function independently.
• Valid driver’s license and access to dependable transportation.
• High School Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supports, guidance, education, advocacy, and supervision for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities.
• Help individuals live safely in the community.
• Maintain individuals' physical and emotional health.
• Foster relationships with family and community.
• Develop skills necessary to increase individual independence.
• Document individual progress and activities in program records.
