About The Position

Supervises the daily activities of the Personal Banking and Teller staff while in compliance with established policies and procedures. Creates a work schedule for the retail staff to ensure that customers are served promptly, are receiving quality customer service and that bank resources are being utilized wisely. The Community Banker is responsible for training, coaching and mentoring direct reports to create a strong retail team. Responsible for making business development calls and promoting the bank’s Merchant Capture and Credit Card Sales program. Refers customers to other bank departments including wealth management and insurance. Will fill in as a Teller or Personal Banker when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Train, schedule and coordinate activities of the department by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems and explaining policies and procedures to staff and customers.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, interviews prospective employees and handles discipline of employees when necessary according to established Human Resources Policies.
  • Manages and maintains a proper supply of vault cash, verifying cash received, and maintains inventory of negotiable instruments including gift cards.
  • Conducts staff meetings to review problems, update progress on sales goals and explain new policies, procedures and security measures.
  • Conducts ongoing coaching sessions with each employee to ensure performance expectations are being met for each Personal Banker and Teller.
  • Oversees the staff’s efforts to make referrals to appropriate personnel.
  • Counsels customers regarding financial matters, informing them of the bank’s products, services and interest rates.
  • Suggests a strategy to obtain the best results based on individual resources.
  • Maintains a portfolio of specific accounts, is responsible for account retention and resolving customer’s problems to their satisfaction.
  • Is responsible for contacting current bank customers by phone or email and conducting business development calls to solicit new business to meet specific goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by manager or a member of the Executive Management Team.
