About The Position

The Community and Youth Specialist represents Suncoast Credit Union in the community to build strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations, schools, colleges, and the community at large. This individual coordinates community initiatives, programs, and sponsored events to provide engagement and volunteer opportunities to staff and generate awareness. This role supports organizational goals by promoting the values of financial education and the credit union difference in the community and with employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in community or youth outreach, volunteer program support, nonprofit, or financial environment
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • May be required to pass a level II background check to enter school sites
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties

Responsibilities

  • Work with the manager to evaluate cost vs benefits for community support requests in assigned counties and process approved requests promptly to meet deadlines
  • Promote internal programs and external initiatives to encourage volunteerism and to provide meaningful community engagement opportunities to staff
  • Provide timely, clear, and concise communication to staff and community partners about event details and expectations to ensure event success and positive experience for all
  • Work well with peers, and contribute positively to collaborative projects to support the organization’s goals and business plan
  • Facilitate community presentations to provide meaningful content such as financial capability, financial health/wellness, the Suncoast brand, benefits of credit unions, and products and services
  • Support and assist leadership with community and employee initiatives, programs, presentations, events, and reports
  • Demonstrate consistent proficiency in using department’s software, including but not limited to, Benevity and HelloSponsor for volunteer management, processing, tracking and reporting
  • Work directly with vendors to support the Community Impact department’s needs
  • Represent the credit union at events, partnership meetings, and other functions related to partner nonprofits as a reflection of Suncoast’s ongoing positive commitment to the community
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to ensure marketing and communication materials are available for staff to promote various credit union programs, products and services and to support engagement on Suncoast's social media platforms
  • Attend events during and outside of regular business hours, including weekends
  • Specialize in community relations or youth outreach for elementary to college age youth (which may include the student-run branch program)
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
  • Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
