About The Position

A Community Aide - Parts Driver position with the Fleet Division in the Department of General Services (DGS), Baltimore City, typically involves transporting automotive parts, supplies, and equipment to and from various locations to support fleet maintenance and repair operations. The Parts Driver is responsible for the timely and efficient delivery and pickup of automotive parts, tools, and supplies necessary for the maintenance and repair of the city’s fleet vehicles. The role requires strong time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate Baltimore City and surrounding areas effectively.

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Have years of experience in delivery driving, automotive parts handling, or a related field is a plus.
  • Have a valid Maryland class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit with a clean driving record.

  • Knowledge of receiving, storing and shipping procedures of automotive parts and materials.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.

  • Knowledge of Baltimore City streets and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry automotive parts weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver automotive parts, tools, and supplies to and from fleet maintenance shops, vendors, and other city departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, invoices, and receipts.
  • Ensure the safe and secure transportation of parts, preventing damage or loss.
  • Perform basic inspections on the delivery vehicle, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall condition.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
  • Assist with inventory management by organizing parts and supplies in the warehouse or stockroom.
  • Communicate effectively with fleet technicians, supervisors, and vendors to coordinate deliveries.
  • Follow all safety and traffic regulations while operating city vehicles.
