The Community Advocacy Program Manager assists the Department Director toward the successful and timely execution of the NAMI San Diego Community Advocacy Program/contract. This includes, but is not limited to: attending most of the mandatory meetings listed specifically in the Community Advocacy contract; supervising all Community Advocacy personnel and volunteers; ensuring Town Halls are well attended, informative, and documented as such; assisting the Department Director with the development, outreach, and documentation for the Peer Council. Supports the APPs team with technical support; liaison with providers related to ASP in order to support program staff success. This is a remote position.

  • Oversees the Community Advocacy Team and ensure all deliverables are met on the Community Advocacy Program contract.
  • Facilitates the Peer Council, including authoring the agenda, conferring with the seats to determine the council's needs, hosting the monthly meetings, and being a liaison between council members and BHS services.
  • Oversees the Smarts for Advocacy Program, advising the trainers, promoting the program, and ensuring adherence to NAMI National Standards.
  • Oversees the NAMI apps program, including the maintenance and development of NAMI SD/IC's three apps.
  • Oversees the Peer Support Partners ASP program, advising peer support partners and ensuring each Augmented Service Provider Board and Care facility is visited at least twice a month.
  • Facilitates the Annual Youth Mental Health Well Being Celebration, including finding a venue, promoting the event, assembling resource tables, booking entertainment and activities, and organizing the art project.
  • Participates in community relations efforts to meet community awareness goals.
  • Contributes to creating a stigma-free, recovery positive, person-centered, trauma-informed and culturally competent professional presence in the San Diego community.
  • Develops a system to track and report on program activities and progress in meeting established goals.
  • Maintains necessary documentation, creates and modifies forms as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Community and Youth Services Director and works collaboratively with other Program Managers in the department.
  • Increases job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities as required.
  • Direct or indirect lived experience with behavioral health, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Welfare, Psychology, Communications, or Education, or equivalent work experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, is required.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record and access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel), web navigation, and virtual platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
