The Communications Technician at TanMar Companies, LLC is responsible for providing skilled work in the installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems, primarily on land-based oilfield locations. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the installation of cables, LTE radios, StarLink packages, VSAT systems, phone systems, CCTV, and other communication equipment. The technician will also be tasked with troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with various communication systems, including Two-Way Radio Systems, CCTV systems, PA systems, and computers. In addition to installation and repair duties, the technician is expected to maintain a clean and organized work area, complete necessary paperwork, and document the nature of assignments, parts utilized, time spent, and types of work performed. The role requires the ability to make minor installation decisions to enhance service efficiency and to recommend equipment replacements when repair costs are prohibitive. The technician will work under the supervision of the local Communications Manager, who will assign and review completed work, while technical manuals and supervisory assistance will be available for guidance. The position demands a proactive approach, as the technician must be self-motivated and capable of making decisions independently. The working conditions may involve physical effort, including lifting and moving equipment, and working in various positions such as bending, climbing, and crawling. Hazards such as electrical shocks and minor injuries may be present, necessitating a strong awareness of safety protocols.
