About The Position

Our Communications Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Layer 1 distribution and transport plant, Layer 2 transport and access, and customer premise equipment. This role also involves restoring buildings and grounds disrupted during service work.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as: maps, blue prints, staking sheets, work orders, operating and maintenance instruction manuals.
• Skill in analytical thinking and problem solving, identifying local and long distance service issues, resolving complex problems involving multiple vendors, and unusual customer applications.
• Knowledge of BICSI, RUS, and NEC codes and practices.
• Skill in operating and maintaining various testing, installation, and repair equipment.
• Technical Degree in Communication Technology or equivalent work experience
• Must be able to perform site surveys and installations for all wireless internet technologies
• TECHNICAL DEGREE IN COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY OR THE EQUIVALENT OF TWO YEARS RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE.
• MUST POSSESS A VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE.
• Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check as part of a conditional offer.

• WIRELESS INTERNET INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE BENEFICIAL.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain various telecommunications systems including DSL, FTTH, POTS, IPTV/CATV, Wireless, Security/Surveillance Systems, Small Phone Systems, Hosted PBX, Enterprise Session Border Controller, voicemail paging systems, and Network wiring.
• Troubleshoot issues related to telecommunications systems and equipment, including fault finding, inside wire and equipment problems, modem issues, digital boxes, and coax at the premise.
• Locate and mark fiber plant routes and perform necessary splicing and testing.
• Keep abreast of industry developments through training sessions and staying updated on current technologies.
• Collaborate with team members and accept direction from supervisors positively.
