About the position

The Communications Systems Engineer role at Actalent involves supporting pre-mission planning, analysis, and operational support for communications networks and data processing systems used in human spaceflight and other missions. The engineer will validate system capabilities, ensure compliance with mission parameters, and implement solutions to support various crewed and robotic missions operated by NASA and its partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in the acquisition, maintenance, and protection of resources for space communications systems.
  • Author, review, and extract critical information from technical documentation such as Requirements Documents and Test Plans.
  • Participate in Systems Requirements Reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings.
  • Author and refine operations processes through peer and external reviews.
  • Perform anomaly analysis and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support NASA human spaceflight objectives at national and international meetings.
  • Resolve usage problems and promote efficient use of NASA resources.
  • Participate in groups to promote human spaceflight customers' interests.
  • Serve as a member and advisor in working groups of national and international significance.
  • Coordinate across NASA centers and organizations.

Requirements

  • Experience with spaceflight communications systems and NASA networks.
  • Support analysis of network engineering and communications systems plans.
  • Track and support the launch process and mission operations with communications systems support.
  • Support systems engineering tasks such as requirements tracking and validation.
  • Perform systems engineering tasks according to NASA Systems Engineering Handbook processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with anomaly analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Strong participation in technical documentation review and extraction.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple centers and organizations.
