MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Communications Support Specialist to join our team in Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB), Florida. This is an onsite position. MANTECH's Human Space Flight Support (HSFS) team is integrated with and directly supports the First Air Force Detachment 3 (1AF Det 3) mission of HSFS for all National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) crewed space programs - Soyuz, Artemis and Commercial Crew - across the Planning, Training, Execution, and Sustainment phases of the HSFS mission. The candidate shall support the employment of communications capabilities to facilitate world-wide astronaut rescue operations in the event of an Artemis or CCP contingency land or water landing; nominal end-of-mission Artemis recovery operations; post-rescue Artemis crew module retrieval operations; and Soyuz landing.

Requirements

  • 2+ years professional experience with network / communications systems
  • CompTIA Security+ (or DoD 8140 certification equivalent)
  • Must be able to go underway on a U.S. Navy vessel for up to 10 days. (Frequency of this requirement may be once a year)
  • Must be able to hook up computer and networking systems, printers, routers, SATCOM antennas, etc.
  • Previous experience working line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications systems, portable, aviation (fixed- and rotary-wing), and/or naval line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise communication plans for voice, video, and data links, including those for a US Navy recovery ship, a crew module, and astronaut survival radios
  • Attend information assurance officer/cyber liaison training and meetings to stay current on cybersecurity protocols
  • Assist with the inventory, issuance, maintenance, and upgrade of unit information systems (NIPR, SIPR, and mobile devices)
  • Provide technical support by submitting trouble tickets for NIPR and SIPR networks, managing personnel accounts for mission communication systems, and assisting with collaboration tools like SharePoint, MS Teams chat, and web conference
  • Identify DoD organizations, personnel, and communication assets and pre-coordinate troubleshooting actions with supporting DoD organizations and NASA centers
  • Assist with COMSEC-accountable items for secure voice capability and help establish phone patches to various mission voice loops
  • Coordinate and schedule communication linkages with the Eastern Range and mission partner communication nodes, and help apply lessons learned to improve tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Help coordinate and schedule all applicable communication linkages with the Eastern Range and mission partner communication nodes, with 1 AF, Det 3 Commander's staff and 1 AF/FM counterparts to obtain, monitor and track unit funds
