About The Position

The Communications Specialist (CS) is responsible for developing and leading programs and activities that promote organ, tissue, and eye donation and education, as well as increasing the number of Arkansans registered as donors in the Arkansas donor registry. The Communications Specialist must develop an education strategy to effectively deliver the donor message, thereby maximizing public awareness of organ, tissue, and eye donation. The Communications Specialist must also deliver accurate donor awareness information to encourage Arkansans to register as organ, tissue, and eye donors. Must be capable of working with a high degree of autonomy, developing and monitoring their own work schedule, and carrying out program plans with limited to no direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations, or,
  • Minimum experience 3-5 years in an education/communications-related position.
  • Proven proficiency in public speaking before a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise interviews with media outlets.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, travel overnight, using own vehicle for this purpose.
  • Consistent demonstration of: attention to detail, precision, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Possess strong prioritization skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to utilize general office equipment, software, and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ongoing education programs to increase public awareness and education about organ, tissue, and eye donation, and donor registration. This includes creating and developing presentations tailored to the audience.
  • Establish relationships with organizations, including educational, religious, community, and civic institutions and organizations, to provide donor education programs.
  • Schedule programs and activities to promote organ and tissue donor education and registration.
  • Responsible for the set-up and take-down of events/activity/booth, including physical space and materials.
  • Formulate and submit accurate and regular reports documenting the results of assigned program activities.
  • Responsible for monitoring expenses related to Communications materials and functions.
  • Produces, manages, and distributes clear, compelling, and brand aligned content across internal and external channels to support organizational priorities and community outreach efforts.
  • Provide Arkansans accurate information regarding organ, tissue, and eye donation and to encourage them to register as organ, tissue and eye donors either through the online donor registry, State Department of Motor Vehicles Office, or other legally acceptable means.
  • Perform as official Southern Legacy of Life (SLL) representative at community activities and special events.
