About The Position

The Communications Specialist position at Pep Boys is a key role within the corporate communications team, reporting to the AVP of Marketing. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Four to six years of direct experience in a marketing, public relations, or communications role.
  • Experience working in or with a PR agency.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Event planning skills.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to connect with cross-functional teams and different audiences.
  • High level of organization, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable operating in a high-performing, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work special hours and be on call outside of business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content for internal and external audiences, including articles, highlights, and multimedia galleries.
  • Provide support for various events such as employee appreciation meetings, Town Halls, and industry-related opportunities, which may require in-person attendance and set-up/breakdown activities.
  • Oversee and manage the general communication email box.
  • Contribute to Editorial Calendars and execute assigned writing tasks.
  • Create and distribute News Clipping Executive Summaries.
  • Serve as the lead team user for email list management and distribution.
  • Act as a key user of the internal intranet, driving strategy and implementation to enhance employee engagement and ensure consistent content updates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on calendars, projects, and other deliverables as assigned.
  • Perform other administrative duties, including expense and invoice management, budget reporting, and team meeting agenda development.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement efforts within the communications function, anticipating opportunities or roadblocks, and proposing innovative solutions.
