About The Position

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, nine state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary: The Texas A&M University System is seeking a communications professional to support high-impact, campaign-style communications work across higher education, public policy, and institutional leadership. This role is designed for someone ambitious, curious, and highly organized-someone who wants to learn how major communications efforts are conceived, shaped, and executed at the system level. Will work closely with a senior communications leader on strategic messaging, speechwriting support, media materials, rapid-response communications, and long-range narrative development. This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to senior leaders, public affairs strategy, and complex institutional issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience (which may include, internships, campaign work, or fast-paced communications roles).
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, audience, and context.
  • Interest in higher education, public service, or institutional leadership.
  • Comfort working with Al tools as part of a professional workflow.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and thoughtfully under time pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of coordinated communications campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Assist with drafting, editing, and refining speeches, talking points, op-eds, press materials, and internal communications.
  • Help track issues, narratives, and media coverage relevant to higher education and public institutions.
  • Use Al tools responsibly to support research, drafting, and iteration-always applying human judgment and discretion.
  • Manage timelines, drafts, and approvals in fast-moving situations.
  • Serve as a thought partner in message development, not just a production resource.
  • Anticipate needs and flag potential risks, gaps, or opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of System priorities.
