About The Position

College of Health Professions and Sciences: The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to nationally recognized programs focused on health and wellness and a respected faculty dedicated to teaching innovations and research partnerships. The college offers degree programs in health sciences, athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, physical therapy, kinesiology and social work. Through coursework, field experience, and interprofessional education, our students develop high-demand skills in healthcare and cultural competency for working with a wide variety of populations. The Opportunity : The UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences is currently accepting applications for a Communications Specialist I. This entry-level role plays a key part in discovering and sharing stories that highlight the college’s leadership in innovation, teaching, clinical practice, and community service. This role will work with students, faculty, and staff to develop engaging content for news sites, social media platforms, digital newsletters, and other marketing materials that strengthen the college’s brand and outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a similar field.
  • 1–3 years of related professional experience.
  • Knowledgeable of major social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Proficiency in creating and editing graphics using Canva, along with basic skills in photo and video editing.
  • Familiarity with the University of Central Florida (UCF).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging and relevant content for the college's social media platforms.
  • Monitor analytics and assess the effectiveness of content and strategy.
  • Respond to inquiries.
  • Monitor channels, engage with audiences, and make recommendations for new social media campaigns, and strengthen social media interactions.
  • Write news stories and news briefs highlighting the college’s academic excellence, student success, research, innovation, partnerships, and clinical care.
  • Assist with copywriting and editing of college publications and marketing materials including digital newsletters, email campaigns, reports, brochures, and flyers.
  • Work with communications team members to create compelling visual marketing and social media assets, working with photos, short videos, and graphics as needed.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events, media visits, and collegewide meetings.
