About The Position

The Communications & Public Relations Coordinator for the Siloam Springs School District is responsible for planning, developing, and executing proactive, accurate, and engaging communications that inform, connect, and build trust with students, staff, parents, and the community. This role oversees all district communications, branding, media relations, digital platforms, emergency communications and coordinates major district events.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field preferred
  • Two or more years of website and social media management experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe or similar design/video software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary public relations and media contact for the district, including local and regional news outlets
  • Develop, write, edit, and disseminate news releases, public announcements, talking points, and internal communications for the district leadership team and other administration
  • Promote positive communication with staff, families, community members, and the School Board
  • Coordinate all emergency and crisis communications in conjunction with the Superintendent and Principals
  • Act as the district point of contact for the district communication platform, including contract renewals, training, and platform support
  • Create systems for identifying, capturing, and sharing district stories that highlight student and staff success
  • Ensure all communications align with district branding, mission, vision, and values
  • Manage and coordinate the district’s social media presence , including Facebook and Instagram
  • Oversee and support 22+ district-related social media accounts , including athletics, clubs, and school buildings
  • Manage and maintain 8 district and school websites
  • Serve as the primary contact for website platform contracts, updates, and troubleshooting
  • Lead and guide a team of individuals in each building that helps manage each school's social media to ensure content accuracy and consistency
  • Ensure district information is current, accessible, and visually engaging across all digital platforms
  • Create and coordinate radio advertisements
  • Design and refresh billboard artwork
  • Coordinate district advertising on Smart TV with local news stations
  • Lead the biannual creation and release of Excellence in Action , including magazine and postcard with QR codes
  • Maintain consistency in district branding and messaging across all marketing materials
  • Plan, promote, and oversee two major districtwide events for 650+ employees, coordinating multiple moving parts and collaborating with staff across the organization while independently driving and managing each event from start to finish
  • Assist with planning, advertising, and promotion of additional district events and initiatives
  • Coordinate recognition opportunities for staff and students
  • Produce high-quality photography and video content for district communications and marketing
  • Attend athletic, fine arts, elementary, and special events throughout the year to capture content
  • Create promotional videos for various district events and initiatives, including annual marching band promotion
  • Coordinate district-level photography and videography for special events
  • Capture high-quality headshots of all administration each summer
  • Update the Administration Building photography displays every two years
  • Attend School Board meetings and assist with monthly recognitions and celebrations
  • Coordinate students and groups for monthly pledges at School Board meetings
  • Develop presentations highlighting district initiatives and accomplishments
  • Provide graphic design, forms, and business materials as requested by district leadership
  • Establish and manage a communications budget
  • Assist with surveys and public feedback tools
  • Maintain availability outside normal hours for urgent communications
  • Stay current with emerging communication tools and technologies
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
