The Patient Access/Communication Operator Lead assists the Supervisor with the overall operations of the Patient Access and the Communications Department. This includes but is not limited to registrations, admissions, insurance verification, POS collections, training and regulatory compliance. In addition to Patient Access functions, this role shall also be responsible for answering and forwarding incoming calls, making internal and external emergency code phrase announcements over the public address system and will lead the precepting/training of new hires for the Communications Department. Role is considered a working Lead and must be available for 3nd shift 2200-0630A to include holidays and alternating weekends. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains a positive working environment and high morale that reflects the philosophy of the service area and Community Memorial Hospital. Operates multi-line switchboard, and paging systems. Coordinates emergency codes and disaster control procedures. Monitors and updates patient status in EMR. Assists with the registration of patients as needed. Serves as a mentor to new associates and assist in new employee orientation. Serve as preceptors/trainers to orientee. Assists with patient escalations. Supports frontline operations as needed. Oversees operations in the absence of Department People Manager. Performs other duties as assigned.
