About The Position
The Communications Officer at UC Irvine will work under the supervision of the Senior Director of Communications & Media Relations, focusing on the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. This role involves identifying and generating editorial content and potential external media stories that support the reputation of UC Irvine and UCI Health. The Communications Officer will proactively develop content such as press releases, media advisories, and feature stories for both internal and external media. They will establish strong relationships with reporters and media representatives, outreach to media outlets, and create high-level thought-leadership pieces. The position requires collaboration with visual communicators to tell stories in various formats and represent the office in administrative work groups. This role is highly visible, working closely with executives and campus leaders to promote the university and manage sensitive issues.
