The Communications Officer/Dispatcher is responsible for providing daily emergency police communications by monitoring multiple security cameras, answering telephone calls, and dispatching calls for service to police officers. The position aims to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness on all shifts. The officer will monitor and operate the department's VCIN/NCIC system, watch both live and recorded video surveillance footage, and analyze any unusual occurrences. Additionally, the officer will review video alarm alerts, report incidents or suspicious behavior, and assist employees and citizens by providing excellent customer service. This position requires shift work with a 24-hour scheduling commitment.
