About The Position

The Communications Manager is responsible for the hands-on execution of Colleton River Club’s communications and marketing plan, with primary ownership of the Club’s website, written communications, and digital content. This role ensures that members and prospective members experience clear, consistent, and well-organized communication that reflects the quality, culture, and standards of the Club. This is a highly executional role that translates strategy into action. The Communications Manager serves as the operational bridge between the Strategic Marketing Plan developed by the Sr. Leadership team, Membership and Communications Director, and/or the current outside marketing agency partner and the Club’s day-to-day communication needs, while supporting both membership priorities and brand integrity. Website Ownership and Management Serve as the day-to-day owner of the Club/Member and public-facing website. Manage content updates, page edits, navigation clarity, and information hierarchy. Ensure content is accurate, current, and easy to find. Implement SEO best practices as defined by the Strategic Marketing Plan. Coordinate directly with Members First on CMS, hosting, and technical implementation. Enforce website standards and prevent clutter, duplication, or outdated content. Execution of the Strategic Marketing Plan Execute marketing and communication initiatives in alignment with the approved Strategic Marketing Plan. Work periodically with external Marketing partner to implement recommended tactics and refinements. Translate approved messaging frameworks into clear, practical communications. Support marketing initiatives with timely, high-quality content and assets. Member-Facing Communications Draft, edit, and publish most member-facing communications, including: Website content Email communications Digital announcements Edit and refine content submitted by departments to ensure clarity, tone, and consistency. Manage communication cadence (in conjunction with communications committee?) to reduce noise and improve effectiveness. Ensure communications support both membership engagement and prospective member understanding. Brand and Logo Stewardship Serve as the day-to-day steward of the Colleton River Club brand, ensuring consistent application of approved messaging, tone, and visual identity. Ensure proper and consistent use of the Club’s logo, typography, color palette, and visual elements across all member-facing communications. Apply brand standards to: Website content and layouts Digital communications and email templates Presentations, PDFs, and marketing collateral Social and digital content Act as the first line of review for logo and brand usage by departments, committees, and vendors. Prevent unauthorized, inconsistent, or outdated use of brand assets. Coordinate with Buffalo Groupe on brand guardrails and approved refinements. Escalate any proposed deviations from approved brand standards to the Director of Membership & Communications. Committee Support Serve as staff support to the Communications Committee. Draft meeting agendas and prepare materials. Receive committee input and translate feedback into actionable improvements. Maintain appropriate boundaries between advisory input and execution responsibility. Content Standards and Quality Control Maintain and enforce communication standards for: Writing quality and clarity Tone and voice Terminology and formatting Ensure all outward-facing communications reflect the professionalism and standards of the Club. Continuously identify opportunities to simplify, clarify, and improve communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with at least 3 years of Communications experience
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail.
  • Highly tech-savvy, with comfort working in CMS platforms and digital tools.
  • Experience managing website content and navigation.
  • Ability to execute quickly while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable coordinating with external partners and internal stakeholders.
