About The Position

The Town of Riverdale Park is seeking a strategic, hands-on Communications Manager to lead the Town's community engagement. This is more than a communications role—it’s a leadership position responsible for ensuring residents, businesses, and stakeholders receive clear, timely, and trusted information. If you’re a strong writer, a sharp thinker, and someone who can move from strategy to execution without missing a beat, this role puts you at the center of it all.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional communications, media relations, or public information experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Experience managing digital platforms, websites, and social media
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within 12 months
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during emergencies as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the Town’s communications and public engagement strategy
  • Serve as the primary media contact and manage all public information requests, including MPIA
  • Write, edit, and deliver high-quality content across all platforms—press releases, newsletters, website, and official communications
  • Produce and oversee the Town Crier and digital communications (email, social media, website)
  • Record and prepare official meeting minutes for Mayor & Council and Boards/Commissions
  • Manage branding, messaging, and visual identity across all Town communications
  • Coordinate marketing and outreach for Town programs, services, and initiatives
  • Oversee multimedia production (video, photography, cable programming)
  • Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies based on performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, residents, businesses, and community stakeholders
  • Support real-time communications during emergencies and critical incidents
