About The Position

The Communications Manager at the Reno Aces is responsible for overseeing all baseball communications, including the creation of game notes, recaps, player features, and handling media requests. This role is crucial in developing and executing communication strategies that align with the team's objectives and brand messaging, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information across various platforms.

Requirements

• Highly skilled AP writing skills, including press releases, recaps, previews, and features.
• Strong writing background with exceptional communication skills.
• Robust knowledge of baseball statistics, trends, and rules.
• Knowledge of MLB Okta (MLB Reference Tool & Forge), Sports Info Solutions, and Baseball Reference.
• Sound attention to detail and detailed organizational skills.
• Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign & Photoshop).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word & Excel), Google Sheets & Docs, and Dropbox.
• Ability to work all Aces games (home games at Greater Nevada Field and away games remotely).
• Proven track record of hitting deadlines.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Basic skills in video content creation.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute communication strategies that align with the team's objectives and brand messaging.
• Primary writer & editor of 150 Reno Aces Game/Media Notes for all home and away games, including post-season if necessary.
• Lead in production and distribution of daily game day items, including stat packs and rosters to radio broadcasters, coaches & staff, and press box.
• Write, edit, and distribute press releases related to promotions, game recaps, and upcoming home stands.
• Write editorial feature stories in addition to series previews and recaps.
• Work directly with local and national media, representing the team, pitching news stories, and assisting in completing player interviews.
• Collaborate with marketing and content creation departments to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of team-related information across all social media channels.
• Identify compelling story ideas that promote the team and its players.
• Support baseball operations needs in the press box during all 75 home games.
• Develop engaging content to highlight storylines while promoting non-baseball stadium activities and special events.
• Content writer featuring off-season storylines to continue to update and engage fans and stakeholders.
• Assemble the club's daily earned media reporting through Critical Mention.
• Responsible for producing the annual Reno Aces Media Guide.
• Assist in team travel and player operations, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
