We currently are seeking a Communications Lead to join our Business Communications team in providing external communications support for PNC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (C&IB) line of business. PNC’s Corporate & Institutional Banking teams deliver exceptional client experiences through specialized relationship management, innovative digital platforms, and dedicated support. C&IB serves the complex financial needs of corporations, institutions and government entities, fostering long-term partnerships built on strategic advice and customized solutions. The line of business provides expertise across treasury management, capital markets, commercial lending, investment banking and risk management to help clients achieve their business objectives and navigate an evolving financial landscape. The Communications Lead is a member of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team of approximately 300 professionals and will advise and support the C&IB businesses on critical communications trends, strategies and tactics in support of business objectives and needs. This individual plays a hands-on role in the design and execution of a results-oriented and holistic external strategic communications program that advances business reputation, broadens awareness and increases the visibility across external stakeholder audiences. In addition, this individual will closely collaborate on internal communications, including C&IB leadership communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or communications-related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in corporate communications or public relations with financial industry media relations experience highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the development of communications strategies in support of reputation, media relations, stakeholder relationship-building and crisis/issue management.
  • Experience with both strategic and tactical social media initiatives and using social media to enhance business objectives.
  • Strong writer and editor; excellent story telling capability and ability to develop content that resonates across multiple platforms.
  • Strong media experience and relationships and demonstrated record of proactive, earned media placements.
  • Understand communications and PR measurement and how they can help inform and impact business decisions.
  • Adhere to established processes and procedures within a highly regulated industry, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a strategic and holistic communications plan to position PNC and the C&IB line of business as an industry leader;
  • Offer communications counsel to business leaders, advise on current and future communications opportunities, and help prepare leaders for media interviews and engagement;
  • Serve as a point of contact for national media relations, including proactive announcements and pitches, drafting and publishing news releases, and handling reactive media inquiries;
  • Enhance the public profile of certain business leaders and amplify business priorities by providing counsel on the strategic use of social media;
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Regional Communications, Marketing, and Social Media teams to ensure C&IB communications are aligned across the organization including in social media channels and external thought leadership content;
  • Leverage data and insights to inform future communications strategies and the effectiveness of campaigns;
  • Support crisis/reactive communications as-needed on C&IB-specific issues; and
  • Contribute to a high-performing culture built on teamwork, trust, and commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and learning.
