Position Overview The Communications Intern will support the Corporate Communications team in executing internal and external communication strategies. This role is ideal for a motivated student who is eager to learn, create and contribute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In addition to day‑to‑day communications support, the intern will play a hands‑on role in a key project to help strategically organize and optimize the company’s communications asset management library, gaining exposure to digital content organization, brand governance and best practices for communications and marketing operations. This is a hybrid position requiring periodic in-office presence, with on-site expectations determined by the candidate’s proximity to our office locations. Start Date: May/June 2026 End Date: August 2026 Locations: Nashville, TN, Indiana, IL, & Cookeville, TN

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, Business, Commerce or related field.
  • At least a 2.5 GPA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a team-oriented environment
  • Interest in and foundational understanding of AI‑enabled tools, including how AI can support content creation, editing, research and workflow efficiency; experience using AI tools (e.g., for drafting, summarizing or organizing content)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in graphic design, photography or videography is a plus
  • Involvement in professional or student organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), American Marketing Association (AMA) or similar organizations is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting and editing internal communications, including intranet content, digital signage and leadership messages
  • Support external communications in drafting materials such as press releases, to people feature articles and social media content
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reporting summaries
  • Conduct research to support messaging, campaigns and industry positioning
  • Assist with event communications and coordination (virtual and in-person)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance employee engagement and brand awareness
  • Support a key project to strategically organize and optimize the company’s communications asset management library, including auditing existing assets, improving file structure and naming conventions, and helping ensure materials are current, easy to find and aligned with brand standards
