About The Position

The Communications Installation Technician will install and remove electronic equipment from various locations and emergency vehicles, including police cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, and command vehicles. The role involves performing simple repairs on electronic equipment and assisting in the installation and removal of communication equipment from fixed stations and offices. The technician will learn to use basic test equipment and complete other assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Completion of a training course in basic electronics or electronic repair.
• One year of experience involving the installation and/or repair of electronic equipment.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Extensive experience with installing two-way radio communication equipment.
• Familiarity with public safety equipment and patrol video systems.
• Knowledge of vehicle operation and power systems.
• Ability to operate and use hand tools and small power tools.
• Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as volt-ohmmeters and watt meters.
