About The Position

The Communications & Engagement Specialist at the WRI Ross Center for Cities will play a crucial role in promoting the Prize for Cities, a global competition aimed at celebrating transformative urban projects. This position involves developing and implementing comprehensive communication and engagement strategies to foster a global network of urban change-makers, manage key stakeholder relationships, and support the Prize's mission through various public events and publications. The role requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in communications, project management, and urban development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sustainable urban development, international studies, environmental science, public policy/administration, urban planning, economics, geography, political science, history, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in research and engagement activities.
  • Strong research skills and ability to synthesize and interpret case study information.
  • Excellent writing, database management, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness, and initiative.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of urban development, planning, and sustainability issues.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in UX/UI design.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive implementation of a communications and engagement strategy for the Prize.
  • Manage the Prize's major communications and engagement assets, including CRM, website, social media, and email marketing.
  • Write, edit, and manage internal and external communications about the Prize, including blogs, press releases, and newsletters.
  • Develop and implement communication and engagement activities to drive high-quality submissions to the Prize.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the Prize Jury and Advisory Council.
  • Help build a community of change-makers and maintain a cohort of Prize finalists.
  • Support the Global Communications team in tracking and analyzing performance metrics for communications activities.
  • Advance the Prize's mission through public events, conferences, and publications.
