About The Position

The Leidos National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) Program is looking for a Communications Editor to support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Advanced Aviation Technologies (AAT). The Office of Advanced Aviation Technologies (AAT) will be the designated point for activities related to the integration of advanced aviation technologies including Advance Air Mobility, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and Supersonic aircraft in United States. Our team supports a wide range of FAA organizations in achieving their business objectives under a NISC IV contract. The selected candidate will provide communications support including strategic planning, producing marketing and communications collateral, executing internal and external communications campaigns, and developing information products. This is a remote position based out of Washington D.C. Other duties include researching technical reference materials, gathering relevant technical information, coordinating with stakeholders or other experts, developing draft and final copies of documentation while ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. Sufficient relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 1 year of professional experience as a Communications Editor.
  • Excellent writing skills with demonstrated experience writing and editing various types of communications to include web content, marketing materials, and communications plans.
  • Ability to communicate well orally and possess excellent writing skills to various levels of management.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, Office, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed presentation skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in federal government contracting.
  • Working knowledge of FAA systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support through management of communication products for AAT programs, strategic messaging, creative production, and content development.
  • Communicate client requirements to design and development teams, manage production schedule, and delivery of collateral.
  • Facilitate meetings, draft reports, develop other technical documentation, and manage distribution of materials to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure collateral is up-to-date and reflects the organization’s current policies.
  • Responsible for writing, editing, proofreading and/or providing writing support on non-technical and/or technical documents.
  • Conform to policies, guidelines, and procedures with adherence to plain language guidelines and communication best practices, and Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Advanced Aviation Technologies (AAT) branding guidelines.
  • Ensure alignment of new products to Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Office of Advanced Aviation Technologies (AAT) standards.
