The City of Nacogdoches Police Department is seeking a dedicated Communications Dispatcher to be the critical lifeline for our community and emergency responders. This essential position requires a quick-thinking, decisive individual who can exercise sound judgment and remain calm under stressful conditions while utilizing tact and firmness when obtaining necessary information from individuals under extreme stress. As a Communications Dispatcher , you will be the critical link between the public and emergency services. Your primary role is to operate the communications center, which involves receiving incoming routine and emergency calls (police, fire, utility) and dispatching the proper personnel for assistance. You will also maintain contact with police units during patrol, receive and transmit radio/telephone messages over several circuits and perform related recording tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or related experience and/or training
  • Valid driver license
  • Telecommunicator Operator License or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment
  • Possession of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Intermediate, Advanced or Master certificates adds an additional certificate pay up to $200.00 per month

Responsibilities
