Job Description Duties include, but are not limited to: - Develop and lead a comprehensive, agency-wide communications strategy and plan aligned with agency priorities and initiatives. Work closely across the MOERJ leadership to regularly identify opportunities to amplify work, respond to media inquiries, and increase overall understanding and awareness of MOERJ. - Serve as a trusted advisor to the Commissioner on messaging and communications strategy. Regularly prepare remarks, quotes, talking points, op-eds, and other high-profile communications as requested. - Oversee MOERJ’s press and publicity strategy, including developing press releases, announcements, conducting media outreach, and managing press issues as they arise. - Regularly liaise the City Hall Coms team to coordinate approvals and align messaging and media strategy. - Oversee development of key assets and creative content including, including branding, marketing, promotional materials, newsletters, graphics, and video. Work with the SCC team develop templates (e.g. power point templates) and other tools that can be used by staff to support brand cohesion in day-to-day work. - Engage the public through key digital assets, managing the MOERJ website, and social media profiles. Ensure compelling, accurate, and timely information. - Lead planning and execution of major agency “tentpole” events or high-profile public engagements. - Organize executive events and other activations, that promote a culture of equity and inclusion for the city, including heritage month programming, public campaigns, public art activations, and types of cultural observances. - Maintain regular communication with units across the agency to identify needs, opportunities, and areas for support. Establish systems that support the steady flow of information and coordination. - Promote accessibility and inclusion across MOERJ platforms and materials, including ensuring translation of content in alignment with LL30, where applicable. - Supervise the SCC team, as well as interns and other temporary staff periodically, fostering high-performing, and collaborative team culture. Provide coaching, mentoring, and facilitate professional development opportunities to support growth and advancement. - Working closely with the MOERJ fiscal and administrative teams, manage, research, solicit, and secure external vendors, as needed, to augment agency communications capacity and support special events, as needed. - Manage time-sensitive communications needs, remaining accessible outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, for urgent media inquiries, press announcements, and special events. - Perform other duties incidental to those above.
