About The Position

The Project Communications Coordinator at the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) is responsible for leading strategic communication planning and support for multiple agency priority projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in writing/editing and implementing communication plans.
  • Skilled in communication strategy and effective planning.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in organizing and executing projects.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in K-12 education.
  • Experience in state government or for an elected official.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and another language.
  • Ability to create ADA-compliant materials.
  • Experience with graphic design software.

Responsibilities

  • Create effective communication plans for diverse audiences including school districts, families, and community organizations.
  • Identify gaps in OSPI's outreach and recommend strategies to address them.
  • Develop and distribute internal and external communication materials such as newsletters, press releases, and social media posts.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of workshops, trainings, and meetings related to assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with project leads and the Communication and Digital Media team to ensure materials align with OSPI's brand and project goals.
