The Communications Center Operator position is a critical role within the Mobile Sensors program, which focuses on the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of complex, multi-mission radar and communication systems deployed on ships. These systems are essential for command, control, computer, and communications operations, particularly within the Pacific Command's (PACOM) area of responsibility. The operator will be responsible for ensuring that these radar and communication systems remain fully mission capable (FMC) at all times, supporting mission operations that may arise on short notice. This role requires a commitment to operate and maintain these systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which may involve extended shifts and periods onboard a ship that operates in and out of overseas ports. The operator will be assigned to either the Message Processing Center (MPC) or the Mission Communications Center (MCC), where they will perform duties associated with standard Navy message systems, along with any additional responsibilities as assigned. Given the nature of the work, candidates must meet specific maritime medical physical requirements and adhere to CENTCOM AOR medical standards. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2088, and compensation and benefits are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
