About The Position

The Communications Associate at Connecticut Community Foundation plays a vital role in implementing marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public relations, communications, or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail, style, and grammar.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining close attention to detail.
  • Outstanding project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce compelling media pitches and press releases.
  • Substantial experience implementing social media, email marketing, and content marketing strategies.
  • Proficiency in WordPress website CMS and email marketing systems (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.).
  • Basic photo editing and graphic design skills (Photoshop and Canva) are a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google Analytics and social media analytics.
  • Donor communications experience and knowledge of community philanthropy and local nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop) and social media management tools like Buffer and Hootsuite.
  • Extended Adobe Creative Suite skills including InDesign, Premiere (Video Editing), and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and project-manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in collaboration with the Director of Communications and other staff.
  • Draft and produce written content for all print and electronic publications and materials, including the annual report, newsletters, press releases, and social media.
  • Conduct regular public relations outreach, including building relationships with the media and drafting pitch letters and news releases.
  • Produce content for and manage the Foundation's website, social media accounts, and broadcast email system.
  • Maintain social media and email content calendars.
  • Track and report on communications metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies.
  • Collaborate with Foundation staff to identify opportunities to communicate with the public about the Foundation's initiatives and activities.
  • Support events and community engagement activities on behalf of the Foundation.
