About The Position

Do you have a passion for storytelling, creative design, and digital engagement? The Communications Intern (Summer 2026) will contribute to building awareness of SRNL's mission to tackle the most critical challenges. As a Communications Intern, you will pay a key role in shaping the narrative of one of the nation's premier research institutions. This role is more than an internship--it's an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while contributing to impactful projects that advance national priorities. Internships typically run for a 10-week period, ideally beginning May '26.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Be pursuing a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design, digital media, or related fields

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be at least a college junior or have graduated within the past year

Responsibilities

  • Strength in Digital Engagement: A knack for developing strategic, engaging, and creative content for social media platforms, as well as familiarity with monitoring metrics and leveraging analytics to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Storytelling Ability: Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for crafting compelling news articles and features that bring SRNL’s work to life.
  • Visual Media Expertise: Experience with photography and videography to capture powerful moments and create visual narratives.
  • Design Skills: Experience in graphic design, including creating visually engaging layouts and materials to simplify complex scientific concepts for broad audiences.
