The Communications and Events Assistant will work under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Communications. The Assistant's primary responsibilities include assisting the marketing, communications and events team. The Assistant will collaborate closely with the Director of Events, Development Department and Program teams to best serve Vital Voices. This position is based in Washington, DC with the option of a hybrid work schedule. We are not accepting remote candidates at this time.

  • Assist with the design and creation of marketing collateral and omni-channel promotional materials using Adobe Photoshop, Canva and emerging software applications.
  • Utilize strong writing skills to write recap blog posts for VV's website, update pages on the website (Wordpress), assist in writing and editing press releases, blog posts and the VV newsletter.
  • Assist with the compilation of monthly marketing analyses, digital insights, credit card and expense reports.
  • Attend and assist events held at the Vital Voices Global Embassy for Women's Leadership with tasks such as registration and/or check in, guest and crowd management, vendor management, etc.
  • Support the Events team in logistical preparations for internal and external events, including vendor coordination, staff communications, expense management and concept creation.
  • Work with the Director of Events to research relevant new event trends, vendors, formats, etc.
  • Collect the necessary information to process vendor contracts and payments, reconcile expense reports and credit care statements, schedule departmental meetings, manage departmental notes.
  • Compile and distribute relevant marketing, events and communications information to key stakeholders across various Vital Voices Departments.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, international relations or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Previous experience creating graphics, digital art, invitations, one-pagers, printed materials etc. with tools such as Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English; strong creative and professional writing skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Strong computer skills including Canva, Wordpress, MS Office applications (esp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), social networking tools, and database software (i.e., Salesforce).
  • Strong demonstrated experience in global women's issues, refugee issues, and human rights preferred.
