About The Position

The Communications and Community Coordinator is a hands-on role responsible for promoting One Marshall County and three key community partner organizations through clear messaging, storytelling, and marketing efforts. This position supports community awareness, partner engagement, and public participation by managing core communications channels and coordinating basic public relations efforts. The ideal candidate is organized, relationship-oriented, and excited to help shape a new initiative that will have a lasting impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, community engagement, or a related field and/or 2 years of relevant experience, OR equivalent education/experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, website, and social media management tools
  • Mission-driven, self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Collaborative and adaptable
  • Client management and strong time management skills
  • Ability to work in-person at partner organizations located in Marshall County three days per week

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day communications for One Marshall County, including social media, email newsletters, website updates, and promotional materials, maintaining consistent branding.
  • Provide communications support to three key partners - Heartland Arts Center, Marshall County Lifelong Learning Network, and Marshall County Economic Development Center - including developing promotional materials, templates, and providing marketing and communications guidance.
  • Draft press releases, announcements, and talking points to support community projects, special events, and organizational milestones.
  • Support relationships with local media and assist with proactive outreach as needed.
  • Collect stories, photos, and short testimonials that highlight community impact and partnerships.
  • Support simple reporting on communications reach and engagement.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for community/media inquiries.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community groups, nonprofits, and local businesses.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase engagement across diverse populations.
  • Support operational and administrative tasks and collaborate with the One Marshall County team on strategic plan implementation.
