Communication Technician Denver Transit Operators (DTO) is a privately held company that has a 29-year contract with RTD to operate and maintain the new commuter rail system within the Greater Denver Metro area. We currently have an open position for Communication Technician. The Communication Technician is responsible for inspection, testing, and repair of the commuter railroad network and communications infrastructure, including voice, data, signal, train control, CCTV, and network security services. As a Communication Technician, you will receive classroom and hands-on training as part of a formal training program. We will teach you the dynamic workings of our commuter railroad network, as well as the communication infrastructure. The duties of the Communication Technician include but are not limited to: maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of communications systems used in train control equipment; alignment, adjustment, and calibration of instruments and equipment as a result of testing; troubleshooting of faulty equipment, electronic components, and circuits to locate defects and diagnose causes of malfunction; replacement and repair of defective wiring and components, and/or adjustment of mechanical parts; maintenance of records of inspections, repairs, calibrations, and tests in the Asset Works management system; maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of the Operations Control Center (OCC) system and wayside equipment along all corridors; coordination with third parties in maintaining DTO communication systems; and performing the work of other classifications of employees for which the employee is qualified as determined by the Company in its sole discretion. This position is safety sensitive and subject to the rules and regulations of the Federal Railroad Administration and their Drug & Alcohol policy. Candidates can expect to be in a locomotive cab for much of their shift and may be required to perform physical activities such as climbing towers up to 40 feet high and standing for sustained periods in outside environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
