About The Position

The Communication Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Geodesicx Inc. is responsible for providing expert guidance and support in the field of communication security (COMSEC). This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with security protocols, training personnel on COMSEC procedures, and conducting analyses to identify and mitigate cryptographic gaps in systems. The SME will also evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance network performance and security.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Math, or Science, or a high school diploma/GED with relevant experience.
  • Active Top-Secret SCI Clearance.
  • Formal training in COMSEC and related military occupational specialties (MOS).
  • Five years of experience with a degree or formal training, or seven years of practical application/experience with a high school diploma/GED.
  • Knowledge of COMSEC equipment, keying material processes, and the EKMS/KMI COMSEC program.
  • Technical competence in data privacy, protection, and encryption.
  • Understanding of encryption algorithms such as IPSEC, AES, GRE, IKE, MD5, SHA, and 3DES.
  • Familiarity with EKMS/KMI COMSEC documentation and cyber security principles.

  • Experience with strategic level DoD and NSA security policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to articulate technical information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide problem resolution balancing customer demands with COMSEC compliance.
  • Assist the Waveforms Project Officer with EKMS/KMI COMSEC services across the Ground Radios Project, including implementing threat mitigation practices and communicating with vendors.
  • Train personnel in COMSEC procedures and the use of related equipment as required.
  • Provide SME support to the Waveforms Project, including gap analysis to identify cryptographic gaps in tactical/strategic systems based on NSA guidance.
  • Conduct analysis of KMI COMSEC documentation and operations, providing recommendations for process improvements.
  • Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions to support customer business goals.
  • Provide analysis/data to support capability gaps and vulnerability assessments for encryption devices transitioning to new processes.
  • Coordinate with COMSEC material controlling authorities and account holders to ensure proper implementation of short titles in communication architectures.
  • Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance network capacity and reliability.
  • Recommend changes and technology upgrades to address performance and industry best practices.
