About The Position

HX5 is currently seeking a Communication Navigation Engineer to join our team at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in support of the KC-46 Program Office. The role involves applying an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems. The engineer will support the System Integrity Programs, assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list, and monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft. The position requires understanding and executing Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, and associated AFIs and Airworthiness Bulletins through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations. Additionally, the engineer will participate in project team meetings, assist in the development and evaluation of engineering cost estimates, and follow the Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and OSS&E related AFIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited program and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited program and twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years of Government Acquisition experience.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
  • Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Ability to travel, including air travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Skype/Lync).
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and web access applications.

Responsibilities

  • Apply an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles to improve performance and sustainability of weapon systems.
  • Support the System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Critical Safety Item (CSI) list.
  • Monitor airworthiness certification for mission partner aircraft.
  • Understand and execute Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6 and associated AFIs.
  • Support project team meetings, working groups, and reviews.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of IMP, IMS, and Systems Engineering Detail Schedule (SEDS) engineering cost estimates.
  • Follow the Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and OSS&E related AFIs.
  • Participate in value stream mapping activities and AFSO21 program facilitation.
  • Assist with technical requirements compliance for avionics development and operations.
  • Evaluate technical documents for compliance with specifications and airworthiness.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external personnel.
