The Communications and Events Manager is responsible for developing and distributing Team Member communications throughout the property. Additionally, this position includes developing and coordinating Team Member events and activities. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resort's 'Winning Attitude' company-wide culture and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.
  • Create and manage content for Team Member communications across property including, but not limited to weekly newsletters, posters, digital displays, and electronic communications, including email and apps.
  • Solicit information from the Human Resources team and other departments and determine appropriate language to communicate relevant and appropriate information to Team Members.
  • Be aware of events on and off property and make recommendations to leadership regarding appropriate language to communicate relevant and appropriate information to Team Members.
  • Continually evaluate effectiveness of communication methods, and stay abreast of changes in communication technologies and trends. Make recommendations to Human Resources leadership regarding improvements to existing methods or new communication channels.
  • Evaluate efficacy of Team Member events, and make recommendations to Human Resources leadership regarding improvements to existing events or new Team Member events.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department on the design and production of support material.
  • Coordinate and execute all Team Member events, including, but not limited to Team Member recognition programs, Team Member appreciation events, holiday events, Team Member contests, and special events for Team Members and departments.
  • Coordinate all Team Member donation drives.
  • Maintain employment policy postings.
  • Work as needed with the Marketing Department on the design and production of support material.
  • Support Human Resources departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Provide support to leadership in creating communication materials as appropriate.
  • Five (5) years of experience in media communications, journalism, event planning, or related field(s).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Human Resources experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and management in both written and verbal form.
  • Must be able to speak in public.
  • Ability to work accurately while managing multiple projects with urgent deadlines.
  • Must be able to work extended hours to execute events from opening to closing.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Experience managing and tracking expenditures.
  • Skill in dealing successfully with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Skill in using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.
