About The Position
Penn State Altoona invites applications for a part-time instructor opportunity to teach one or two sections of CAS 100A Effective Speech for the Fall 2024 Semester . The start date for this appointment is August 2024 , and the one-semester contract is renewable. Job Duties The successful candidate will teach pragmatic principles of communication as part of Penn State’s general education curriculum, with classroom instruction devoted primarily to the preparation and delivery of speeches, with some attention to small group discussion and message analysis. Instructor s may devote classroom time to the role of speech in civic and political discourse, explore specific professional speech genres, or examine the implementation of rhetoric strategies in new media or other specific context, for example, as an individual course focus.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree or higher in a relevant field or possess commensurate practical experience in public speaking instruction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
