About the position

Under direction, the Communicable Disease Investigator Level I/II investigates routine communicable disease cases and conducts interviews; locates suspects and/or contacts and arranges for their medical examination and treatment for control purposes; provides health education on communicable disease prevention and control.

Requirements

  • Possession of an Associate's Degree, or higher from an accredited college or university in Community Health Services, Epidemiology, Biological Science, Health Education, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • 60 semester units (90 quarter units) from an accredited college or university, with 24 semester units (36 quarter units) in relevant fields.
  • One year of full-time paid/voluntary/internship experience performing duties related to communicable disease investigation, counseling, or health education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Education above the 60 semester units or an AA Degree may substitute for required experience on a month-for-month basis.
  • Experience in conducting interviews of a highly personal nature.
  • Ability to lecture to students and speak to large groups.
