About The Position

The candidate will conduct investigations, surveillance, prevention, and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases of public health. Areas of importance will be vaccine-preventable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, bloodborne pathogens, foodborne diseases, waterborne diseases, airborne diseases, vector-borne diseases, zoonotic diseases, healthcare-associated infections, and emerging infectious diseases. The candidate will assist in Outbreak Investigations through data collection, case interviews, contact tracing, education, and prevention. The position is scheduled from Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and is 100% in-person (not remote).

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing, or Science with one (1) year of experience in communicable disease investigation and epidemiology for Communicable Disease Investigator I.
  • Accredited Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing, or Science, OR Bachelor's Degree with two (2) years' experience for Communicable Disease Investigator II.
  • Accredited Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing, or Science with two (2) years' experience for Communicable Disease Investigator III.
  • Verification of U.S. citizenship or employment eligibility.
  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License with minimum auto liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience working with congregate settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities
