About The Position

Comms & Sensor Systems Engineer/Scientist Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Phantom Works is seeking a Comms & Sensor Systems Engineer/Scientist to join the Phantom Works Special Technology Integration team in Mesa, AZ. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of electromagnetic systems, components, and applied physics; have significant knowledge and experience with implementing real-time embedded hardware, firmware, and software; have strong analytical skills, knowledge, and proficiency with physical modeling and simulation tools; and knowledge of advanced math and system modeling principles as applied to aerospace and electrophysical analysis. Position Responsibilities: Interpret highly dynamic or uncertain requirements to develop flexible embedded hardware and software systems within aggressive program schedules and budgets Remain application and product focused while simultaneously executing multiple technical aspects of vertically integrated designs Balance systems/software engineering best practices with cost, schedule, and system performance requirements Apply systems-level thinking and agile design practices to advance embedded system architectures Perform control system logic/algorithm, hardware, and software development tasks Provide end-to-end systems integration, test, and field support Work under experienced electrophysics engineer/scientists, software, and hardware engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Take ownership of tasking from start to finish and demonstrate consistent initiative with ambiguous or unclear assignments Maintain project planning of assigned sub-tasks; decomposing milestones, reporting progress, estimating completion, and communicating help needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience with low-level software programming in C/C++, and/or Rust, etc. and version control workflows (Git, GitLab, SVN, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in high-level software development for applied physics, modeling, and/or simulation using MATLAB, Python, Julia, and/or Jupyter, etc.
  • 3+ of experience in real-time embedded systems and low-level driver development with microcontrollers, single board computers, and/or FPGAs
