About The Position

PURPOSE OF POSITION /SUMMARY The Common Area Irrigation Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily and preventive maintenance on property including common areas, grounds surrounding amenities, erosion and drainage control, weed control etc. This position hires, trains and manages the maintenance personnel of this department and interacts with various SB2 departments regarding exterior landscaping aesthetics of the community. The Assistant Supervisor/Irrigation Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the irrigation systems used throughout the property. This position will work with all brands of commercial irrigation systems and controllers in Common Areas to ensure proper watering schedules are maintained; adjustments to equipment and watering schedules may need to be made to take into consideration inclement weather or rain/storms that may damage the landscape. This position will perform necessary repairs and maintenance of the irrigation equipment. The Assistant Supervisor/Irrigation Technician must work within guidelines established by the Director of Common Area Maintenance. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 years of previous landscape and common area maintenance experience
  • 3 years of irrigation experience
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • Basic horticulture knowledge
  • Irrigation systems maintenance and repair
  • Drainage and erosion control
  • Basic landscape equipment operation
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of irrigation system, to include: electrical, hydraulics, automatic valves and controller pump section and pumping system
  • General working knowledge of Common Area equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Irrigation Tech Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Common Area Maintenance crews, inspect landscaping, common areas, and property to ensure it meets SB2 standards and expectations.
  • Oversee all installation projects, according to the landscape designs; the performance of unit maintenance crew, clubhouse/maintenance crew, and drainage/retention crew.
  • Schedule work assignments daily for each crew, monitor work performed, and follow-up with crew leaders on current common area maintenance projects.
